Please call the main office at 718-302-7700 (elementary school) or 718-599-2924 (middle school) to report an absence or leave a message at any time. You may also email the office at Main_Office@bwccs2.org (elementary school) or Main_Office_Bartlett@bwccs2.org (middle school).  Please state the reason for your absence. If you do not report your student’s absence to the Main office, we will consider the absence unexcused. Always call the main office, even if you have spoken to your student’s teacher.

To ensure that a child is taken from school only by an authorized person, proper identification must be presented to the office staff by an individual on the emergency contact form before the child is released. If the person picking the student up is not on the emergency contact form, the parent/ guardian must call the main office and notify a staff member. When the parent/guardian arrives to pick up their child they will sign the child out and the office staff will call the student down to the office. No one is to leave the school grounds without permission. Students that are being picked up early must be picked up by 3:00pm. Students being picked up after that must wait for regular dismissal.

All medications, prescriptions and over the counter (including topical creams, cough drops, Tylenol and other various over the counter drugs) must be authorized by a physician using the official district Medication Administration form. These forms can be found in the main office.

If your child is ill to the extent that it will be difficult for him or her to participate in the activities of a normal day, it is best to keep your child home. If your child becomes ill while at school or receives an injury that requires further medical attention, you will be notified immediately.

As a general rule, if your child has a temperature of 100 degrees or above, we will call for them to go home. We will call regarding the following conditions:

  • temperature of 100 degrees F or more

  • vomiting or diarrhea

  • what appears to be pink eye, with or without drainage

  • body rash especially with a fever

  • lice, lice eggs, or scabies until treated. We have a nit free policy and ask that you always contact the office.

  • chronic cough

  • injury that needs a medical opinion

Please be sure to notify the office if your child will be absent. For additional health information, you may contact our School Nurse, Danielle Starling at 718-302-7620

For temporary or occasional changes, always write a note or call the Main Office. Please call before 1:00 p.m. as the end of the day is a very busy time in our school.

In 2017 all school lunches were made free for families. However, all families still need to fill out the schoolfoods form found on our website. A link to the monthly breakfast and lunch schedule are available on our website. Hardcopies are also available upon request.

You can view our full program descriptions on our Programs page.

The Main Office can give you that information. A school calendar is available on our website. Due to weather issues, there may be changes to the calendar.

Please call the Main office with any changes as soon as possible. Please be sure that the office has your current phone number home address.

Our Lost and Found for clothes, backpacks, and lunch boxes etc. is located in the Main Office. Small items such as jewelry, electronic items, etc. are kept in the office. Please check with one of the office staff members to claim these items. PLEASE write your child’s name in coats and hats, lunch boxes, etc. so that they can be returned to their owners.

Conditions, such as snow, ice, power outages, windstorms, and floods may make it necessary to temporarily alter the operation of schools and/or school buses in NYC. We follow the NYC Department of Education concerning school closings. For all emergency closures, we will notify families by telephone.

If you have any questions about bus transportation, routes, pick up or drop off times please contact the Allied Transit at 718-485-8002.
